John Mackey Writing New Piece For CMS Band!!

The Conner Middle School Band has commissioned a new piece by renowned composer, John Mackey. This summer, a consortium was formed to fund the new work which is intended to be a Grade 3 Middle School Band Piece. With expectations to be completed this fall, the Symphonic Band will premier the work this in the winter or spring concerts.

John Williams Conducts the Pops

Exemplary Performance Awards

The Conner Middle School Symphonic Band and 7th Grade Concert band have both been honored with Exemplary Performance Awards from the District 6 Large Ensemble Assessment. Of the 30 groups that performed, the judges picked three outstanding ensembles for this special recognition. Congratulations to Gray MS 7th Grade Band for the other honor.

Our annual spring concert is Tuesday, May 25th. ALL STUDENTS need to be in the gym at 6:00. The concert will begin at 6:30. Please remember that students are expected to stay for the entire concert. A pdf of the concert program is located under Links>Past Programs.

Congratulations to all of the Conner Middle School Bands for earning Distinguished and Distinguished Plus ratings at the District 6 Large Ensemble Assessment held at Northern Kentucky University on May 20 and May 21. We are very proud of our groups!

Busy Week Ahead!

On Monday, the fill 6th grade band will be rehearsing after school from 3-4:30. Symphonic Band rehearses on Wednesday from 3-4:30. Thursday – Symphonic and 6th perform at NKU, 7th rehearses after school, and 5th graders come to instrument interviews from 5-8. Friday, 7th performs at NKU. Lots to do!

Congratulations to the Conner Middle School Jazz Ensemble for being selected to perform at the finale performance of the Northern Kentucky Jazz Festival. CMS Jazz was chosen from 5 middle school groups to perform on the evening concert. The concert featured the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Jazz Ensemble, the Beechwood Jazz Ensemble, and the Northern Kentucky Select Jazz Band. Congrats CMS Jazz Ensemble!!!!!!

The symphonic band will be rehearsing with Mr. Bob Bass from Mason High School on Thursday, May 13 from 3-5. Mr. Bass has one of the best high school band programs in the country, having perfromed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. We’re honored to have him work with us! Jazz Rehearsal Friday, May 7th

The advanced jazz ensemble will rehearse next Friday, May 7th in preparation for the Northern Kentucky Jazz Festival on Saturday, May 8th. Rehearsal will be from 3-5 in the band room. Details for the trip will be given out on Wednesday.
